My work generates vignettes culled from conspiracies, myths and the unbelievable. The obsession of the unknown and unexplained pulled through a medium of educational paraphernalia. Instruments used to teach facts, such as a chalkboard. I enjoy the precarious nature of chalk, how it serves as a vessel for educational needs. Yet its fragility is never present with a simple brush of one’s hand, vanishing into a quagmire of abstract words and figures. Currently, I am exploring aspects of monsters and what defines them. Dolls from my childhood pursue these monsters. My aim is to explore and exploit the belief in monsters and create a conundrum between who exactly are the villains in my work the dolls or the monsters.
